Email Set-Up Instructions

Our Internet Broadband is designed to support most Email programs.  The data shown below is all that's necessary to set up your Email program.  Your "password" can be obtained by calling (352) 854-0408 and asking for "Internet Support."  Click HERE for password guidelines.

If you are new to email, here are instructions for setting up popular Email software: Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook

SETUP - Various versions of Outlook Express differ slightly.  These instructions are for Outlook Express 6.  Instructions for other versions are similar,   

  • Start Microsoft Outlook Express (double click on the Outlook Express icon - looks like an envelope wrapped with a blue arrow).

  • On the menu, click on Tools then on Accounts.

  • Click on the Mail tab, click on Add, then click on Mail.

  • Complete requested data, clicking on Next each time you finish a page

    • Display Name - what you want people to see when they get an email from you

    • E-mail Address - your address, e.g., yourname@lightningspeed.net

    • Incoming mail server is a POP3 server (don't change this)

    • Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server: mail.lightningspeed.net

    • Outgoing (SMTP) server: mail.lightningspeed.net

    • Account Name: Your complete email address, e.g., yourname@lightningspeed.net

    • Password: Password assigned when you signed up for LightningSpeed Broadband.

    • You may want to select "Remember Password" unless other people will be using your computer and you don't want them to be able to send or receive your email.

    • You should not check "Secure Password Authentication."

  • Click Finish then click Close.

  • Optional settings are in Tools, Options and in View when Inbox (or other other mail folders) is open.

USAGE - This should get you started with email using Outlook Express...

  • Start Microsoft Outlook Express (double click on the Outlook Express icon - looks like an envelope wrapped with a blue arrow).

  • On the Outlook Bar, click on Inbox.  (If the Outlook Bar is not visible, click on View then click on Outlook Bar.)

  • To read email, double click on desired item.

  • To compose a new message, click on Create Mail.
