History of Cable

In 1949, entrepreneurs using simple antennas and Army-surplus coaxial cable created the country’s first cable television system and revolutionized the way Americans watched TV.  The advent of Pay TV and satellite distribution caused the new industry to soar until over half the households in America found themselves cable subscribers.  But the industry did not remain dormant.  Electronic technology and creative marketing provided cable companies with additional offerings.  By upgrading their cable plants and installing fiber optics, progressive cable companies like Cablevision of Marion County were able to provide digital cable, high-speed internet, and digital phone.  Many have even launched “packaged services” which allow
subscribers to elect grouped services at a significantly reduced rate.

What does the future hold?  We’ll have to wait and see.  But one thing's for certain—Cable TV will continue to improve its product while striving to maintain the best customer care possible.  And you can count on Cablevision of Marion County to be right there—doing just that!
