LET'S COMPARE APPLES TO APPLES

PRICE - With cable, your monthly rate is the same no matter how many TVs you have connected.  What you may not realize is the normal monthly rate quoted by satellite providers in “BIG LETTERS” is for just one TV—additional TVs create “added costs.” Satellite providers also forget to mention the harsh reality of additional equipment required to receive their signals.  These can include extra receivers for multiple TVs (costing between $100 - $200 apiece); more dishes (if satellite positioning doesn’t allow a good picture); and repair costs for later service.

With satellite you may be required to spend hundreds of dollars on new equipment that may quickly become obsolete. With cable there is nothing to buy—no long-term contract to sign. We simply bill you monthly; and we believe our service and programming is so good you’ll continue to be a subscriber.

NUMBER OF AVAILABLE CHANNELS  - Satellite companies often say they can now offer 500 channels—inferring cable TV cannot.  The truth is no satellite or cable company currently offers that many.  When satellite talks about that 500 figure, they are simply referring to the total of ALL channels they offer in ALL markets nationwide—in reality, they are counting each local broadcast channel as well.  This inflates by 50% the number of channels they can actually deliver.  We at Cablevision could carry over 1500 digital channels if quality programming was available.  So who can offer more channels?  Cable TV.

RELIABILITY - We admit it—at one time satellite was more reliable than cable.  But with the introduction of fiber optics and back-up power equipment, the cable industry has far surpassed satellite’s reliability.  We at Cablevision are proud to have installed state-of-the art stand-by powering systems which replace commercial power when the later is interrupted.  We have also introduced fiber-optic cabling—running it from our headend to a location near each subscriber’s home.  So as a cable subscriber, you are assured of the most reliable video service available today.  In addition, you won’t receive the dreaded “tiling” so prevalent within the satellite industry.  These disjoined, frozen picture scenes are created by severe weather; and when they occur, they cause TV enjoyment to be impossible.  As a cable subscriber, you no longer need to consider bad weather your enemy.  We in the Cable TV field have worked hard to make that possible.

SERVICE - Traditionally satellite subscribers pay extra for repair--and that’s if they can even find a number to call to request repair service.  With Cablevision of Marion Country, repair service is just a phone call away.  Simply phone our local number and a “real person” will answer your call.  We’ll listen to your problem and then dispatch one of our local technicians to repair it.  When you are our subscriber, we’ll never leave you stranded.  We’re here to help you enjoy all the entertainment offerings cable has available.  If something isn’t right, we’ll fix it.

NUMBER OF TVS CONNECTED - Satellite service allows you to only have four TVs connected—and each of these must have a digital box.  With cable TV, you may have as many TVs hooked up as you desire.  What’s more, you can select the service you’d like on each.  You can have cable
on all; you can have digital on all; or you can simply have a combination. The choice is yours.   With cable you are in the driver’s seat!

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION - One of the issues never addressed by satellite companies is community participation.  The reason?— They are nationwide—they aren’t local.  We at
Cablevision strongly support the local community.  We pay local taxes; we hire local people; and we volunteer for local charitable projects.  We strive hard to be a good citizen.  We believe strongly in this statement:  “If you take from a community, you need to give back.”  We do just that—and do it cheerfully.  You won’t find satellite companies joining us in this effort. The local community is not their priority.
